Counting Fun with Jelly Beans + Printable Pack

Counting is one of the first skills I teach my children. We start when they are itty bitty by counting their fingers and toes. Then once they can help dress themselves, we count their arms and legs as we put on their clothes – one arm, two arms, one leg, two legs. My kids love the little sing-song rhythm and don’t even realize they’re learning.

After six kids it is almost second nature to count while they get dressed. In fact, I find myself repeating it when I’m helping my girls try on clothes. Of course they laugh at me and tell me they know how to count, so I have to be careful and catch myself sometimes. However, when I hear my little ones counting on their own as they look at their hands and feet or as they are dressing, it makes my heart smile.

Even though we take a more unschooling approach to learning in the early years, I don’t mind throwing in some fun printables every now and then. This jellybean counting set is perfect for some fun practice. And it can easily become a hands-on learning with a jar and some jellybeans. If you don’t have those items on hand, we’ve got a printable set included!

Counting and math practice is always more fun when treats are involved! Kids will love working through this Jelly Bean Counting Pack as they improve their skills. They will work on counting, simple addition and subtraction plus color recognition and matching! #iaydhomeschoolers #iaydcommunity #counting #math

Color Recognition & Counting

Do your little ones need practice recognizing colors? These few pages will help them recognize colors as well as work on their counting skills. They begin simple and get more complicated as they work through each question. NOTE: For these pages, you will need to print them in color.

Hands-On Counting Practice

Whether you want to use the printable page for this section or have real jellybeans and a jar, kids will love working through the problems. On the following pages they will work on simple counting and then move into simple addition and subtraction problems.

Matching

My kids still love to play matching games. They are a fun way to learn so many different things. In this pack little ones will work on matching numbers to the correct set of jellybeans. These pages are in black and white, so kids can color the jellybeans if they want too!

Addition & Subtraction Practice

The last section of this pack has two fun pages of addition and subtraction practice. By adding or subtracting the jellybeans in each equation, little ones won’t even realize what they’re doing. Let these be a starting point for you to get them practicing and learning more. They can even use the paper jellybeans (or real ones) to create their own math equations for more practice!
